Jeep has announced the winners of the 2018 Drive for Design contest after high school students from across the United States entered nationally. Three clear winners have come out of this contest, highlighting the first place, where a high school student has designed a Jeep Wrangler for 2030. The winner of this year's edition of the contest has been Eduard Cret, from Design and Architecture Senior High in Miami , Florida (United States).
Second place went to Emily Bryson, from the same school as the winner, while the bronze medal went to the design of Jinho So, from Canisius High School in Buffalo, New York. Of the three designs, the winner's was the most striking and the one that received the most votes thanks to the fact that it has been able to capture the essence of the Jeep Wrangler in a futuristic design that goes back more than 10 years.
The Cret design is boxy and compact in shape, with a two-door design and flared wheel arches painted bright orange, as are the side skirts or bumpers. At the front we find a hood with large air inlets and outlets, as well as full Jeep Wrangler color changing rgb led headlights with integrated turn signals. The front grill appears to be a large screen that can display a wide variety of images.
The windshield in two sections is another of the elements that attract attention in the winning design. A large section of glass divided into two sections that extends more than 50 cm above the roof of the vehicle, a design that gives it a daring look and frames the essence of a convertible vehicle without having to be. For their part, the three winners will enjoy a visit to the FCA US Product Design studios, a two-week automotive design course at Lawrence Technological University, an Apple iPad and an Apple Pencil, a Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 and will become part of of the “EyesOn Design Automotive Exhibition' in Michigan.
